Hallandale Beach, formerly known as Hallandale, is a city in southern Broward County, Florida. The city was incorporated in 1927 and was named after the son of a Swedish worker for the Florida East Coast Railroad, Luther Halland. Hallandale is known for Gulfstream Park, horse racing, and Mardi Gras Casino. Next to Brickell, Hallandale Beach has a sizable financial district with a lot of banks and brokerages.  As of the 2020 census, the city has a growing population of 41,217. Hallandale is made up of a large number of retirees and is one of the fastest-growing populations in Broward County and in Metro Miami. Hallandale Beach is 18.2 miles (33 mins) north of downtown Miami and 18.4 miles (26 mins) from the Miami International Airport.
